My Trip to Malaysia Post #1 - My Grandaunt
For those of  you who don't know, the ultimate reason why I went back to Malaysia was to see some of my very old relatives who I love so dearly and bluntly, have no idea how long more they will be around.

Oddly enough, on the Easter long weekend, early April, and this is after we bought our tickets, our family got a phone call from Malaysia. It was about my grandaunt (mom's dad's oldest sister) was admitted into the hospital. I remember that time I just hoped that she'd be able to last until we come back to see her.

Between that time and the time we eventually got back to Malaysia and went to Penang (my mom's home state) to visit her, she has been in and out of the HDU (high dependency unit). In fact a week before we saw her, she was doing perfectly well and able to eat and joke around. Then the week we saw her, she slipped back into a semi-coma.

During the few moments that she was awake, we talked to her and she would even laugh at our jokes. It's apparent how nice she is because even while she's slipping in and out of coma, she is saying thank you to everyone who visits her and telling us she's sorry for troubling us *tear*.

The 96 year old lady who never once in her life likes anything food that is yellow (durian, mango, cheese, milk, butter - what have you not) was forced to have protein fluids pumped into her because she was unable to eat through her throat. Yet she pulled out a smile and told us it would be nice if she could live another half a year more.

Well now we're back in Canada and yesterday my family got yet another phone call, she managed to live a month more, not 6. Rest in peace Koh Poh, you've been a great inspiration for kindness all your life. We love you so much and will miss you even more.
